URGENT NEED
Friends of the Artist Yacht Club is preserving affordable creative space for queer and BIPOC artists at a moment when stability and community are under real pressure. Two rare low-cost studios have opened at the same time in a historic underground artist building in San Francisco, and securing them now prevents them from disappearing for years.
WHAT YOUR DONATION SUPPORTS
This is a public-benefit project fiscally sponsored by Independent Arts and Media. Your tax-deductible donation directly supports preserving affordable workspace in a city where artists are being displaced. These studios provide inclusive, consent-informed rooms where artists can make art, gather, rehearse, write, photograph, film, print, paint, and build projects with shared tools. They also allow modest public programming including readings, screenings, micro-shows, open studios, and swap meets.
OUR GOAL
We are raising 17,000 dollars by December 31 to cover one year of rent, utilities, basic equipment, workspace setup, limited open-studio hours, early public programming and fiscal sponsorship fees. Securing these studios now keeps them affordable and lets us build community with intention.
