Desolate Dreams is a narrative short film set in 1942 Los Angeles. It follows a friendship between an African American journalist and a Japanese American family as they are forced into incarceration.
Filmmaker Kiyoka "Kex" Rhodes is half-African American and Japanese, weaving her own heritage into the film. While her family was not incarcerated, she has become an advocate for the period and the people it displaced. Rhodes is a Capital Emmy-nominated director and member of the Producers Guild of America.
