An unprecedented look inside “The Commandant’s Own,” the United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps. Every member is a world-class musician, and every one is a combat-ready Marine. A Different Breed follows Major Nate Morris, the unit’s Commanding Officer, and a young recruit fighting to earn a seat, as they carry a 90-year tradition into an uncertain future.
This film is being made the way the unit operates: by a small, dedicated team. Producer Anthony Garber served seven years in “The Commandant’s Own,” and director Brody Bernheisel has known Major Morris for more than 15 years. Without a studio or streaming service behind us, this story will reach the screen through the support of people who believe it deserves to be told.
Your tax-deductible contribution funds the documentary's production as it follows the corps’ 2027 season: from the audition room and Marine Corps Boot Camp to the road with the unit on tour.
Donors who contribute $25,000 or more will receive an Executive Producer credit on the film.
THANK YOU for helping us bring this story to the screen.
