For nearly four decades, Californians for the Advancement of Midwifery (CAM) has worked to strengthen midwifery and expand access to midwifery care across California. Today, we are building toward what comes next.

The Advancing Midwifery Fund provides flexible support for CAM to pursue the opportunities that can make the greatest difference for midwives, families, and communities throughout the state.

Your support helps CAM:

  • Grow the midwifery workforce by expanding educational pathways and reducing financial barriers for future midwives.
  • Strengthen research and evidence about community birth in California.
  • Build the field through statewide planning, public education, collaboration, and initiatives designed to expand access to midwifery care.
  • Strengthen the foundation CAM needs to sustain this work, including communications, technology, governance, volunteer infrastructure, and administrative capacity.


This work ranges from scholarships and workforce development to research, public education, statewide convening, and new models for increasing access to community birth.

Unrestricted gifts to the Advancing Midwifery Fund give CAM the flexibility to put resources where they can have the greatest impact.
