Since the creation of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) sixty-three years ago, countless lives have been saved by it's robust humanitarian responses to disasters across the globe. As a result of the Trump administration’s reckless dismantling of USAID, the entire development ecosystem has been destroyed. Lives are being lost and the suffering will continue if the staff and partners of the largest international development agency in the world do not receive urgent support to ensure their expertise, knowledge, and capabilities are harnessed and preserved.
In response, senior women leaders of USAID came together in February 2025 to establish an emergency project to support all USAID staff. The project focuses on a communication campaign led by Stand up for Aid, crisis interventions for mental health and wellness, career transition support, and harnessing decades of international development knowledge and expertise.
