Denby Road Productions is producing their feature length film debut, an expansive new documentary following the lives of tornado survivors in Dawson Springs, Kentucky.
On December 10th, 2021, a once-in-a-century tornado rips through Dawson Springs, Kentucky. The tornado wipes out half of the town and claims nineteen lives in forty seconds. For three years, Dawsonians rebuild their homes and their town with varying success. During this journey, survivors come to terms with the realities of disaster recovery and peel back the layers of their small town America identities.
Through intimate portraits of four tornado survivors' journeys, the inequities of disaster recovery are laid bare. Dawson Springs’ tornado recovery leads its community to reckon with personal traumas from the storm, their concerns of a changing environment, and their hopes for the place they call home.
