About this campaign

Now more than ever, the Salem community depends on fair, accurate and trustworthy information.
Salem Reporter recognizes that local news is a public good that serves those needs. We never lose track of that mission.
And it’s a mission that counts on community support. Your tax-deductible contribution to the Salem Reporter News Fund can have a powerful effect.
Contributions helped fund two reporting interns. They are getting quality training in the profession. They also are covering important stories for Salem, from the data center project to street festivals. We’d like to make this a year-round program for young reporters and to Salem’s benefit.
Contributions helped fund two new reporters to start our education team. They are devoted to holding school officials accountable – for spending, for student performance, for school choices. We want to keep them going in the years ahead as grant support ends.
Contributions helped pay public records charges that government imposes to before turning over public documents. We won’t let them use such fees to wall off information you and the community deserve. With your help, we’ll continue to be your watchdogs.
Your contribution is key to continuing these efforts – and adding staff to cover even more local news so important to the community.
You can donate with confidence your money will be put to good use. You can make a one-time contribution or use our monthly automatic program for sustained support.
Your support is vital to Salem Reporter and to the community. I thank you in advance for deciding that local news is an asset that warrants your investment.
With appreciation,
Les Zaitz, editor and owner (les@salemreporter.com)
