About this campaign

WE ARE SEEKING TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DRAGON GIRL.

DRAGON GIRL is an animated series about Clara, a middle school girl on the spectrum, who discovers she is a dragon-riding princess in an alternate realm where she and her friends are the last hope to save the land from a nefarious evil.

At its heart, this is a coming-of-age story. Clara is a kid with wild enthusiasm and bold imagination. She faces the plight of all middle schoolers, trying to figure out how she fits into the world. This is particularly harrowing for a neurodivergent kid. Through her adventures in Amaranthia (think Oz or Narnia), Clara will find community and a sense of belonging. She learns that the neurospiciness making her feel isolated in middle school is the source of her magic.

WHY ANIMATION?
Animation is an amazing medium for audiences from the ASD community. It is clear, predictable, and visually engaging. It highlights emotions through exaggerated, consistent, and easy-to-read visual cues, fostering social learning, emotional resilience, and cognitive engagement. Animation offers limitless visual freedom to create and imagine worlds, characters, and magical effects. It also allows for unique and fantastic visual comedy.

WHY NOW?
Film and television are among the greatest tools we can use to foster empathy and help others understand diverse life experiences. This is incredibly important for the Neurodivergent community at a time where misinformation and prejudice are rampant in our society.

Dragon Girl is a love letter to all the children around the world who are unique. The series CELEBRATES NEURODIVERSITY and gives agency to others who feel they do not belong because their minds work differently. As Clara becomes empowered by her differences, she helps others do the same. Dragon Girl is being created with the INCLUSION AND AUTHENTIC REPRESENTATION of the neurodiverse community. It is an OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN from others' experiences - educating and reducing stigma — through a fun, magical world full of adventure.
We are all fantastically different and magical!

Dragon Girl is full of untold tales of heroes and legends... but needs a touch of magic!

There are two extraordinary quests ahead of us:

1. Character and concept design with EXCEPTIONAL MINDS, whose artists will bring the characters and lands of Dragon Girl to life.

  • $65 will pay for an hour of an Artist’s time.
  • $1040 will pay for Character Exploration of one character (10 sketches)
  • $2145 get us a Model Sheet for one character (action poses and expressions!)

2. Taking Dragon Girl out to a sales and distribution audience. This means getting people to see our amazing story through labs, script competitions, festivals, and buyer conferences.

  • $45 will cover submission fees for Scriptapalooza
