About this campaign

Stranded in a new city amidst a water crisis and freshly laid off from her dream tech job, a lonely and vengeful young woman seeks companionship in an AI boyfriend...

FEED is a short sci-fi horror-comedy film about coming of age in a world hurtling towards a billionaire-engineered climate apocalypse -- but still having to get up and brush your teeth in the morning.

The Story

Set in the near future, FEED centers Ruby, a disillusioned and socially isolated tech worker -- who's just been replaced at her job by AI. She's going through it: her town is under a water advisory, she's got medical problems but no insurance, and she keeps having dreams about getting revenge on her old CEO. Most of all, she can't bring herself to reach out to her one friend, Cat -- her "work wife" at her old company.

A horribly awkward social encounter with a stranger pushes her to embark on a virtual reality date with an "AI boyfriend" software named "Harry". Harry validates her like nobody else, and wants to hear it all: from her quarter-life crisis to her mysterious, violent dreams about her old boss. Ruby must decide which to pursue: her addiction to the numbness that AI provides, or the complicated human relationships that await her in the messy real world.

We're looking to raise $36,000 to fund this production. These funds will go towards:

  • Paying our cast, crew, creative team, and independent producers a living wage;
  • Insuring our production for safety;
  • Renting beautiful equipment, including lighting and cameras (so our film looks delicious);
  • Scoring our film with incredible music;
  • Creating opportunities to screen the film in 2027!

Every donation counts. We want to make this film the best it can be -- and most importantly, as helpful as possible to the ongoing movement to regulate AI companies and their data centers.

FEED is an independent, community-produced film. By donating to our campaign, you're joining the FEED family. We deeply appreciate every single donation!
