About this campaign

Welcome to the Hunting Legacy Initiative!

Our mission and purpose is to preserve hunting practices for multiple generations through FREE firearms and hunter safety education programs in homeschool co-ops, private and public schools in West Michigan.

But isn't there already free hunter safety programs? Yes, the Michigan DNR does have free hunter safety classes throughout the year taught by volunteers. However, the problem is the lack of accessiblity of these programs, funding for schools to implement programs into their districts, and qualified staff to teach. The State of Michigan requires DNR certified instructors to teach hunter safety education programs, but most DNR certified instructors do not have teaching degrees to teach in schools as well as a lack of funding for the districts to directly hire staff.

Hunting Legacy Initiative fills that gap! Hunting Legacy Initiative will match and place DNR certified instructors with West Michigan homeschool co-ops, private and public schools who want to offer firearms and hunter safety education programs in their school. Donations will fund a program manager and instructor wages, travel expenses for instructors, classroom materials, and other operating expenses. Our goal is to raise $45,000 for the 2026-2027 school year which would provide FREE hunter safety education for 100 school aged children.
