Enfield, North Carolina has something most communities don't: a municipally-owned electric utility with the legal authority to generate, store, and sell its own power. For decades, that asset sat dormant. Not anymore. Enfield Energy Futures is building community-owned solar and storage, a workforce training pipeline, and a grid modernization plan that turns a small-town utility into a clean energy proving ground.
