Last year, we asked readers to help us grow our reporting capacity. You answered that call, and your gifts are already at work. With funds donated by readers in 2025, we hired two new reporters: Shauna Reynolds, our Report for America corps member covering growth and development across Middle Tennessee, and Kara Aguilar, our local government reporter.

Their work strengthens the journalism available across our network of community newspapers. Shauna is following the development, infrastructure and population changes transforming Middle Tennessee. Kara is bringing added attention to local government, including the meetings, budgets, policies and public decisions that directly affect daily life in the communities we serve.

That progress is worth celebrating, but the need for strong local reporting continues. In 2026, we want to produce more journalism with local relevance, champion local stories and people, give local businesses a stronger platform, promote civic engagement and fill the gaps left by larger media organizations.
