Reyes Dance is fiscally sponsored by Dancers' Group
REYES Dance is a contemporary dance company based in San Francisco dedicated to producing live dance performances, curating an annual dance film festival commissioning bay area artists, and hosting work in progress showings with discussion sessions for the BIPOC and Contemporary dance communities. Led by first generation Latinx artist, Jocelyn Reyes, our mission is to bring visibility to BIPOC narratives and support artists, while maintaining a high standard for artistic excellence and implementing equitable compensation models.
REYES Dance works and curations exist at the intersection of humor and horror. Our choreographic works explore taboo subject matter in Latinx communities including religion, domestic violence, poverty and chronic illness. We use athleticism, everyday gestures, humor and storytelling in our dances to question toxic behavioral patterns and reimagine better ways to build relationships with ourselves and others.
Our annual dance film festival, Dance Thrill Fest, commissions 8-12 Bay Area artists to create new works exploring horror and comedy, providing a platform for artists to connect and expand their creative practice.
With every dance production, informal sharing, discussion session, and festival, we aim to bring visibility to the trials and tribulations faced by many, especially those in BIPOC communities, and envision a hopeful future.
