Data 4 The People turns public datasets into free, original journalism — published every weekday, no paywall, no ads.
We work from the raw files that federal and state agencies collect and almost nobody reads: employment, food assistance, prices, energy, drug pricing. We do the analysis ourselves, publish what we find, and post the data and code alongside it so you can check the work rather than take our word for it.
Your donation funds three things: the reporting, the rescue of public datasets at risk of going offline or going stale, and the development of AI-assisted tools so that anyone — not just people with a data science degree and a budget — can do this kind of analysis themselves.
