About this campaign

Donate now to support Poogooder 2.0 as a charitable community project and join the movement to help end wayward dog poo for a happier, healthier community and planet.

Founded in 2020 by local author and mom Lori Kothe, Poogooder is best known and loved for its inaugural West Seattle community dog poo bin program where residents voluntarily steward a bin in their front yard for others to use like a Little Free Library. The pilot reached 80 active bins in its first eight months, and currently has a waitlist of 100+ residents requesting to be stewards.

Poogooder paused the bin pilot in 2022 when it received a King County Pollution Identification and Correction (PIC) program grant to create the Zeropoo Challenge community engagement initiative to help reduce fecal pollution in local waters from dog poo in the Des Moines, WA area south of Seattle.

When the grant funding ended in March 2026, Lori refocused on building "Poogooder 2.0" and secured a fiscal sponsor (Fiscal Sponsorship Allies) so Poogooder can raise tax-deductible funds and seek grants, partnerships, and donations as a charitable community project like a nonprofit to augment the consulting projects Lori offers through Kocreate LLC. There's a ton of work to do, plans to make, systems to optimize, and volunteer teams to build, but we have six years of momentum and insights and a Poogooder Advisory Group being formed to help guide us forward.

Poogooder is quickly becoming a recognized resource and regional partner for clean water actions, education, outreach, research, and behavior change programs, and the demand for reviving and formalizing a scalable, sustainable Poogooder dog poo bin and bag dispenser stewards program is greater than ever. Many of the original West Seattle bins are still being dutifully maintained by individual residents (thank you!), but are in need of a glow up or replacement, and that costs money.

Poogooder 2.0 is the commitment to pick up and keep going and connecting with the positive mindset of "let's do some good today." Thank you for contributing to its success and investing in the joy it brings to all. Please consider a recurring donation to help sustain our efforts.
