About this campaign

In 1988, an 11-year-old boy named Julius Achon was taken from a football field in northern Uganda by the Lord's Resistance Army. He escaped. Then he ran.

Barefoot at first, he ran his way to a scholarship, to America and to the Olympic Games. And then he went home. He took in children orphaned by the war, built a health centre in his mother's name, and went on to serve his community in Parliament.

The Boy Who Runs is a feature film about his life, made with Julius's full cooperation by an African-led team. Sundance award-winning C.J. Obasi directs and co-writes with Kirimi Kiage and Teddy Gitau. C.J. Obasi, Kirimi Kiage and Blake Simpson produce, with executive producer Kudi Maradzika (Netflix's Bad Influencer, a Global Top 10 hit) and co-producer Mortinno Morton. Produced by 9 NIGHTS in association with A Fiery Film.

Your gift funds the film's development: the screenplay, the first teaser, and the creative package needed to take the film into production.

Julius has spent his life carrying others forward. Help us carry his story to the world.

Our $100,000 development goal completes the screenplay and builds the international package needed to take The Boy Who Runs into production.
