"In times of dread, artists must never remain silent. This is precisely the time when artists go to work". -Toni Morrison
This quotation keeps meaning more and more each day.
Part two of The Prep School Negro (PSN) returns to the conversation that moved audiences across the country. But this time, with a focus on hope, healing, and thriving. Centered on a student whose strong family support is key to his success, the film also reconnects with voices from the original project to explore how lives have evolved. By shifting the lens from trauma to triumph, this documentary offers a powerful and positive message.
This initial fundraising effort is focused on securing the development funds necessary to bring the next chapter of The Prep School Negro to life. Our goal is to enter full production by Fall 2025. Just as I did with the first film, I will not only create a powerful documentary but also build a robust national impact campaign, including a film festival run, strategic distribution, and an extensive screening and conversation tour across the country.
I have witnessed firsthand how storytelling can create space for reflection, dialogue, and transformation. In this time of deep division and uncertainty, students and adults alike are craving tools for understanding and healing. The original PSN opened doors for thousands. Now, the need for a new film feels more urgent than ever.
All contributions will be processed through my 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor and are fully tax-deductible. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you personally and share more about the project’s vision and impact strategy.
Join me in creating something that matters. Let’s make this moment count.
