Works In Progress celebrates local craft and design through public exhibitions and gatherings. We bring people together in new spaces throughout the Bay Area, to deepen our relationship to furniture and objects and tell the incredible stories of the people who make them.
Independent spaces and organizations for this kind of exchange are limited. Works In Progress is a catalyst for local artists and designers to develop new work, in new ways, and share it with a broader public. The community and connection generated through this work give fuel to the craft and design ecosystem in the Bay Area.
The majority of proceeds from exhibition sales goes directly to the artists. Your donation supports the work of producing these exhibitions and making contemporary craft and design accessible to the Bay Area community and beyond. Contributions fund artist fabrication, exhibition production and installation, publications and public programming. They give participating makers the resources to develop their work fully and support the thoughtful exhibition environments that are central to the Works In Progress experience.
Our next exhibition will take place as part of the 2027 Further Triennial at Marin County Civic Center, where ten Bay Area practitioners will explore how furniture and spatial objects can support shared life. Artists include: Ido Yoshimoto, Michelle Yi Martin, Craig Steely, Cathy Liu, Laura Mays, Gemma Roper, Jesse Schlesinger, Peter St. Lawrence, Mac McComb and Aaron Silverstein.
