Support The Access Granted Group

The conservation movement is trapped in a self-perpetuating cycle of unpreparedness. For at least four consecutive presidential transitions, major conservation organizations have not begun transition planning until approximately ten months before an election. Under the Biden-Harris Administration, it took 18 months for the conservation community to align around a common agenda — 18 months of squandered opportunity at the start of what should have been a period of sure-footed, bold, decisive action. That timeline cannot be repeated.

The Access Granted Group is a time-bound, nationally focused think tank built to break that cycle. Our work grows from decades of nonprofit, government, and frontline community leadership. We are co-creating a Day 1 federal conservation policy agenda with frontline and Indigenous leaders, producing original movement power analysis with actionable recommendations for how conservation philanthropy and NGOs should invest differently, and developing and testing narrative tools for reaching communities currently disengaged from conservation. We are strategically designed to sunset. Everything we produce is freely available to the field.

We do not compete with existing conservation organizations or replace grassroots organizing. We convene, facilitate, and equip.

Your support makes it possible to:

  • Co-create a federal conservation policy agenda with frontline and Indigenous leaders first — compensating them fairly for their time and knowledge — then open it to the full conservation movement to weigh in on and adopt, and candidates to run on;
  • Produce movement power-building research and roadmaps that shift conservation philanthropy and NGOs away from organization-first strategies and toward the collective power-building the movement actually needs;
  • Develop and test grassroots narrative tools that reach communities currently disengaged from conservation — because conservation messaging was built for a narrow professional class, and opponents have been investing in reaching everyone else for over a decade;
  • Equip conservation leaders with the relationships, narratives, and strategies needed for Day 1 action.

The 2029 window is fixed. Every month without working toward a frontline-led policy manifesto is a month wasted that could have been leveraged for building power and compelling nature-loss policy solutions from the ground-up. We are working now so the movement is ready then — and your investment is what makes that possible.

Contributing to The Access Granted Group is an investment in a more unified, representative, and powerful conservation movement — one with the stamina to win bold land, water, and ocean policy for generations.
