If you're here, you already know what The American Bystander is and why it should be preserved. In an era of AI "slop" and disposable digital content, The Bystander is the beautiful ink-on-paper alumni magazine of the comedy business.

In the 20th Century, Americans created a unique brand of comedy based on freedom of expression, mass education and speaking truth to power. As all those things come under attack, our comedy will be destroyed, too…unless we act to protect it. American comedy is too important to be left to corporations; without independent, pro-quality institutions like The American Bystander, all we'll have is memes, hot takes, and tech billionaires doing improv. Nobody wants that.
