The Capital Region is home to vibrant immigrant communities that shape our neighborhoods, schools, businesses and civic life. But too often, these stories are undercovered or told without the depth they deserve.
The Times Union is launching a dedicated New Americans beat to expand coverage of immigrant communities across our region and ensure more residents see their experiences reflected in local journalism.
This effort begins with the arrival of Cat Carroll, the Times Union’s first Report for America journalist. Selected through a competitive national process, Carroll brings experience reporting on migration and a strong commitment to community-centered journalism.
With Report for America as fiscal partner, we are seeking support from subscribers, readers and community partners to help sustain this public-service reporting initiative.
