About this campaign

Bad Art Club is a community-based creative practice that supports wellness and belonging through low-pressure, sober, collective art-making using reclaimed materials. Bad Art Club offers workshops, interactive art pop-ups and retreats that are accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, abilities, religions and identities. The core intent of Bad Art Club is to foster psychological safety, self-expression and authentic connection within the context of community.

Bad Art Club was founded in 2024 on the ancestral lands of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe known today as San Francisco, by Jules Costa (she/they), a LGBTQIA+ -identified woman who is devoted to inclusivity, accessibility and cultural equity. Jules brings over 500 hours of facilitation training developed alongside leaders from more than 30 countries, grounding her work in a global and culturally responsive perspective.

Bad Art Club is a sustainable, scalable model for intersectional community-building and culture-sharing through collective art-making, supporting people from all walks of life to break free of conditioning and awaken to creativity, for the well-being and liberation of all.

Bad Art Club is a fiscally sponsored project of Independent Arts and Media (EIN: 94-3355076).
