Project Logline
An American prisoner of war returns home from Vietnam after 14 years in captivity—only to be arrested and charged with treason and collaboration with the enemy. The government aggressively pursues the case with almost no evidence. When we ask why, we find one of the greatest scandals in American history.
Project Description
Six years after the Vietnam war ends, Bobby, an American POW returns home after 14 years in captivity. As soon as he’s on the plane back to the U.S, he is arrested and accused of treason––with no evidence. He was put on a lengthy court martial, convicted, denied back pay and medical care. Why was this done to him? Because Bobby was an eyewitness to dozens of other Americans left behind after the war was over, when the U.S government had said there were none. The Inconvenient Americans is a gripping documentary about survival, truth, and the cost of challenging an official narrative.
