As we prepare to receive the Torah on Shavuot, we hope we can count on you to help bring Torah to Karov!
A few months ago we were very blessed to be given a damaged Torah from Temple B’nai Hayim in Sherman Oaks. We will use our Torah at Karov’s first high holiday services this fall, Shabbat services throughout the year and at the B’nai Mitzvah celebrations of the many children in our community.
Our Torah is currently in Florida being repaired, which will cost roughly $6,000. This may seem like a lot for repair but a used Torah costs upwards of $15,000.
We hope to receive our repaired Torah in time for Shavuot, so we are engaging in a crowdfunding campaign to help us cover the cost of repairing the Torah and building a portable ark.
Our goal is to raise $6,000 by May 21st and reach our goal of $10,000 by June 13th (there are 613 mitzvot in the Torah and coincidentally the date is also my birthday).
Thanks to a generous gift from the Schmugge Family, we are already almost halfway to our $6,000 goal!
We also received a $2,000 matching grant from the Staenberg Family Foundation Anything Grants and JEWISHcolorado to help cover the cost of building a portable ark. JEWISHcolorado mobilizes resources to ensure that Jewish culture remains vibrant, secure, and accessible for all Jews in Colorado and abroad.
