About this campaign
Fox is a coming-of-age drama set in 2012 about the correlation between sexual repression and eating disorders in the LGBTQ community. A true story inspired by writer-director Quinn Quinlan's own experiences, Fox will change the way that eating disorders are portrayed on screen.
There have been shockingly few portrayals of eating disorders in film and TV, and those portrayals that do exist have been riddled with misconceptions or rushed storytelling that muddies the issue. Eating disorders are an even bigger problem within the LGBTQ community, with over 54% of LGBTQ adolescents having had one. Fox follows 14-year-old Megan as she develops unexpected feelings for her best friend Viv, and her desperate attempt to shut them down triggers an eating disorder in an effort to maintain the illusion of control.
In partnership with GLAAD, Fox is executive-produced by Cold Iron Pictures (Diary of a Teenage Girl, Swiss Army Man) and stars Madeleine McGraw (The Black Phone 1 and 2) as “Megan”. The project will be filmed in Massachusetts, infusing its economy with the full $1.7M budget and creating over 75 jobs for New England creatives.
We are raising money to produce the film. Your contribution will go towards:
- Cast and crew rates
- Camera and sound equipment
- Finding locations that match the desired New England aesthetic
- Costumes, sets, and props that are specific to 2012
- Editing and post-production, including sound, color, and score
- Marketing and publicity to ensure the film stands out in a crowded distribution market
