🐑 Why Help Us Name This Future Solar Grazing Lamb?
This lamb was born into the flock of a historically underserved farmer in the Great Lakes, solar grazing to build their livelihood by managing sheep on solar sites. Farmers like these guide our mission. Their lived experiences navigating land access, contracts, logistics, and long-term viability are exactly why the HARVEST Project exists.
Through HARVEST (Harnessing Agrivoltaics for Resilience, Viability, Equity, Sustainability, and Transformation), we at United Agrivoltaics Heartland Alliance, partners at Michigan State University and MSU Extension, and the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability Master's capstone project “Harvesting Opportunity,” are working to develop practical tools, incubator resources, and policy recommendations that help farmers access viable opportunities at the intersection of agriculture and solar energy.
