For five years, we have been investigating allegations of child sexual abuse, and discrimination in New Hanover County's Public School District, NC.

It's been a long journey, and we're ready to reveal what we uncovered. Beyond the profound suffering we witnessed lies an extraordinary story of courage. A handful of community members united to challenge decades of corruption, stand up for children, and show what it takes to create meaningful change.

Parents who just wanted answers to their child's suffering. Survivors who spoke out at great personal cost. Whistleblowers, journalists, and community members confronted the people they believed, protected predators over the children they were tasked with safe-keeping.

This small community persevered.

Even as the years passed.

We're now asking for your help to bring their story to the screen.

Open Secret opens with an important question:

What happens when the institutions entrusted to protect children protect predators instead?

We documented residents who confronted a deeply fractured system in pursuit of the truth to learn what is needed within our communities to keep our children safe. What must we do differently to protect them moving forward?

A story of courage. A mission of prevention.

Every child deserves adults who listen and act. Every parent deserves to have their fears and concerns taken seriously. Every educator and student deserves a school where speaking up leads to protection. And every school needs a robust child safety program that is tried and tested and followed by all.

Our goal is to bring the film into communities alongside practical child-safety resources and facilitate discussions, help families recognize concerns, and know where to turn to, for help.

We are also exploring a child-safety curriculum collaboration with Brandi Dugal, founder of The Fidget Game.

Regal Cinemas has expressed interest in a nationwide release. Completing the film is the next step toward pursuing that opportunity.
